Hi,
My name is Steve Archibald, but most people know me as Archie.
While my life and its experiences are more than just what you see on this site, it was created to share my journey through diagnosis, surgery, treatment, and post-treatment for aggressive brain cancer (Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma), which was diagnosed on Halloween 2011.
I have always loved to write, whether it was poetry as a young age, or my diary through Peace Corps, or my more recent years of losing my father to cancer only to be diagnosed myself shortly after. I have a passion for writing, which matches my passion to help others. I can find no better way (for me) to combine the two to tell my story in an effort to help others live theirs. I am lucky to have such strong, loving support from my family and friends. Your love and care has kept me positive and I truly don’t think I would be here without it. I would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff that have done so much to not only keep me alive, but to help me thrive.
The combination of love, positivity, holistic and medical care creates a pungent potion that I sip each day. I am lucky to be alive at this stage, and I am honored you are here to be a part of this journey. While I choose to believe I will live to a ripe old age, nothing in this world is a guarantee, so I hope these words encourage everyone to live their best lives each day.
This is for you, Dylan.
